HALO Ambassadors Jerry and Sherry Daniels have been living in Kenya for over 20 years. Two years ago, they expressed a great need for an orphanage in their area and HALO was able to provide funding. The children we currently support were living on the streets or in extremely poor circumstances. Most of the kids lost their parents to the AIDS epidemic. Today, HALO fully funds 3 orphanages in Kenya that exist only because of HALO. We are now able to provide for 52 children who have had a safe haven from violence, starvation, and abuse.
Due to the current outbreak of violence in Kenya, many non-profits are pulling out of the country. HALO is committed to the children we support. We will continue to provide for them through this tough time and will be prepared to meet their needs when this is over.
There is a great need in Kenya; HALO’s Campaign for Kenya hopes to meet the current needs of our children. In addition to continuing to care for the 52 children we currently support, we are anticipating a flood of displaced children that will need care after the conflict settles down. There has been a 40% increase in food costs because of the conflict. We must cover the increase for our current children and prepare for more children. We want to provide for these children who have been victims of the current raging violence, those who have just lost their parents, and those that are forced to live on the streets. We want to give them a home. We want to care for them and let them know that their next meal will be provided.
We are looking for people to be part of Campaign for Kenya.
Join us in giving them hope and committing to them for at least a year.
We are not just feeding these children. We are giving them a chance at a future.
Our children attend good schools, have a metal box with a key that holds their few belongings,
sleep in their own beds, have loving caretakers who care for them, and do art therapy projects to help them deal with their losses.
It costs around $810 to fully support one new child for a year, covering start-up costs such as beds and mattresses.
We want to have 20 spots open for new children. This is $16,200 total.
The costs for food for the orphanages as they are now has increased by $7,000 for this year.
We must raise $25,000 for Campaign for Kenya to cover food increases, new children in the homes, and any unforeseen costs.
